Amid the raging debate and infighting in BJP over the economic crisis and its mishandling by the government, former Union Minister and Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Friday came out in Centre’s support.
Naida defended Narendra Modi-led government saying the nation has to take “temporary pain for long-term gain”.
“The temporary things… there will be some problem. Of course, you have to take the temporary pain for long-term gain. I am not getting into this arena. There are other people who are debating, using their skills, forgetting what they have done, what has to be done, what needs to be done,” Vice President Naidu said.
The Vice-President batted for the need of broader consensus on matters like foreign and economic policies.

He said the economic slowdown is global and even China is witnessing it but despite that India remains a bright spot “in the midst of this”.
Naidu reaction comes days after senior BJP leader and former finance minister Yashwant Sinha attacked Narendra Modi government over the mishandling of the economy.
Sinha in an article in The Indian Express wrote that the economy is in mess and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is making sure people of India witness poverty from the “close quarters”.
