E retailing major Flipkart is launching a programme to provide financial assistance to employees who wish to participate in national or international challenges in any field of interest. All those employees who have completed six months with the company are eligible for the ‘Budding Star Programme’.

There is only one eligibility criterion for the Budding Star programme- employment at Flipkart for at least six months and those shortlisted — based on evaluation by an internal company panel — will get up to Rs 3 lakh in assistance.

“We want benefits to be meaningful to employees, and this programme will allow Flipsters to pursue their passion beyond work. It adds to our existing sabbatical policy,” said Satheesh KV, director total rewards at Flipkart. “If we need to delight our customers, we need to delight our employees as well.

The greater the autonomy and flexibility provided, the happier and more productive employees tend to be,” he added. The programme will cover all national and international sports and non-sports competitions recognised by government authorities. But it will not support regional or state-level competitions and leisure or tourist activities.
