Freedom 251: Site facing major glitches again; here is how you can book the phone

The Freedom is facing major technical glitches for the second day. The website which was downed due to overload on server yesterday, was restored today buy the company. 

However, News Nation marked that while there were glitches, the site was still working if you refresh it continuously for five-six times.

On logging in, the users generally see a blank page which doesn’t even show website’s logo, but as you refresh the page several times the ‘Buy Now’ options appears.

On Friday, the website crashed, hours after bookings were thrown open. The company claimed that website was having 6 lakhs hits every second. 

“Dear friends, we are very grateful for your enormous response and your kind patronage and would submit that as of now we received approx. Six Lacs hits per second as a result of your kind overwhelming response, servers are over loaded,” Freedom251 said on its website on Wednesday after the site collapsed.”We humbly submit that we are therefore taking a pause and upgrading the service and will revert within or before 24 hours,” it added.

Ringing Bells’ President Ashok Chaddha said manufacturing cost of the phone is about Rs 2,500, which will be recovered through a series of measures like economies of scale, innovative marketing, reduction in duties and creating an e-commerce marketplace.


The world’s cheapest smartphone comes with a 4-inch qHD display and is powered by a Qualcomm 1.3-GHz quad-core processor. It has 1 GB RAM, 8 GB storage system and supports expandable memory upto 32 GB. The dual SIM device also features a 3.2 MP Rear camera and a 0.3 MP front camera.
