Would you believe if we tell that a visually impaired person was able to see with the help of a device! Yes, this was made possible, with the help of Google’s newest device ‘Google cardboard’.
The incident, which is being widely reported in international media, tells that a woman was able to see again after eight years.
Bonny, who suffers from Stargardt disease for the last ten years, was made to see by help of Google Cardboard. The device thanks to a specific app was able to make her see again.
Google shared Bonny’s story this week.
As per reports, about 25,000 people suffer from Stargardt disease. The disease causes progressive damage to the macula, an oval yellowish area surrounding the fovea near the centre of the retina in the eye.
The disease results in a slow loss of central vision in both eyes. There are a number of services that a person suffering from Stargardt could use to do their daily chores.
The miracle was made possible with the help of an app called Near Sighted VR Augmented Aid. In an unique way, app makes use of a phone's rear facing camera and delivers the image to each eye. The functionality is offered by Google Cardboard only. The unique story has also been filmed watch video above.
