The GST Council led by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has finalised Goods and Services Tax (GST) for almost all items. The GST Council’s 16th meeting was concluded on June 11, revising rates for 66 items.
Most of the goods and services were listed under four broad tax slabs – 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. Some items like rough diamond and gold have exclusive tax rates, while some items have been exempted from tax.
Here is the list of items that are exempted from GST:

Chicken
Eggs
Milk
Butter milk
Curd
Natural honey
Fresh fruits and vegetables
Flour and besan
Bread
Salt
Jaggery
Hulled cereal grains
Bindi, sindoor, kajal, palmyra, human hair and bangles
Drawing or colouring books
Stamps
Judicial papers, printed books, newspapers
Other items include jute and handloom, bone grist, bone meal, etc.
