Reliance Jio, who made a banging entry into the potential Indian telecom industry last year has changed the course of the entire market.
Jio's free high-speed internet and calling offer forced rivals like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea etc. bleed money by giving competitive offers and even after commotion it is in no mood to stop yet.
The company is venturing into the new segments such as DTH and home broadband and also said to be developing a 4G-enabled smartphone to expand its reach and increase user base.
According to some media reports, Reliance Industries is planning to spend a further Rs 18,000 crore investment for its fibre network as it expands Jio's 4G reach.
The Reliance Jio fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband services have already been offering trials at a few locations and the services will expand to more cities soon.The Reliance Jio FTTH broadband services will offer internet speed ranging from 70 Mbps to 100 Mbps.
The Company is also expected to launch direct-to-home (DTH) TV services which will broadcast TV channels and stream online content with the help of Jio's broadband services.
Some media reports also suggest the telco is working on a 4G enabled smartphone that will be subsidised by Reliance and might be available at a value ranging from Rs 999- Rs 1,500.
