The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has issued a lookout circular against Jet Airways former chief executive Vinay Dube. Dube has been barred from leaving India, as a probe into the financial irregularities in the running of the grounded airline continues. Dube had resigned from the services of the company with immediate effect from May 14 due to personal reasons.
The MCA has sent out a lookout circular for over 20 people suspected of economic offences and Dube is included in the list, according to news agency IANS.
The development comes days after Goyal and his wife Anita were off-loaded from a London-bound flight in Mumbai.
Last month, Jet Airways officers and staff association president Kiran Pawaskar had written to the Mumbai police commissioner that the passports of Goyal and other directors and senior members of the Jet Airways management be impounded as the airline had not paid salaries to its employees for several months.
Naresh Goyal, along with Anita Goyal, had resigned from the board of Jet Airways, which he founded 26 years ago, in March following a debt restructuring plan. He had also resigned as the airline chairman.
It is to be noted that in late March, Jet Airways Founder Naresh Goyal along with his wife Anita Goyal as well Etihad Airways' nominee director Kevin Knight stepped down from their respective position following a debt-recast plan. Naresh Goyal also stepped down from the post of Chairman. Etihad is a strategic investor in Jet Airways.
