Microsoft to bid goodbye to Skype Wi-Fi service from April 1

Video chat and Voice call application Skype is bidding a goodbye to its popular wifi service from April 1. Microsoft has decided to delist the wi-fi app, which would not be functional after March 31.

Skype's Wifi app helps users to connect to anyone hot spot out of the two million present around the world. Notably, Microsoft has recently launched an exclusive Skype Lite app for India.

The Skype wi-fi app is presently available across various platforms including Android, iOS, Windows and MacOS. It is a paid app and the users need to spend Skype Credit to use the services.

According to sources, Microsoft has taken this step keeping in mind Skype's efforts to focus on its core features. 

Users who are unable to use their Skype Credit left in the wi-fi app post-March 31 would be given an option to use it by making calls and sending text messages using the standard Skype app.
