The Reserve Bank of India to issue banknotes in denomination of Rs 200 on Friday. The Centre had on Wednesday specified introduction of Rs 200 denomination banknotes. Rs 200 banknotes will be issued for the first time in history of India.

Currently, there is no denomination present in between Rs 100 and Rs 500 banknotes.

It will be the fourth note to be introduced since the government’s demonetisation move in November 2016.

The new Rs 200 notes are printed in fluorescent ink and have optical fibres. Both will be visible when exposed to the ultra-violet lamp.It has been designed keeping in mind the visually impaired people.

It is expected there will be raised printing of father of the nation and Ashoka Pillar emblem.

The Rs 200 note is likely to have a motif of India's Mars orbiter and the Mangalyaan on the reverse. A colour-shifting windowed security thread with 'भारत' inscribed on it will also be there on the note.

On the left side of the note, there will be a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, Ashoka Pillar Emblem, the Reserve Bank seal and guarantee & promise clause.

The RBI Governor’s signature will be imprinted in raised prints.
