Mukesh Ambani on Thursday announced the launch Jio GigaFiber, the company’s Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) broadband solution during the Reliance Industries' AGM (Annual General Meeting) 2018 in Mumbai.
In his keynote address, Ambani announced that Jio's broadband services would be available in 1,100 cities across the country. The Jio GigaFiber comes with the GigaFiber router along with the Jio Giga TV set-top box. The users will be able to make video calls from the Jio Giga TV set-top box to other Giga TV devices and mobile connections of any network.
"You can call every other TV that is powered by Jio Giga Fiber. You can also call a mobile or tablet connected to every network. Of course, the best experience will be on the Jio network," Isha Ambani, daughter of Mukesh Ambani said while elaborating about the Jio Giga TV.

The key features of the Jio Giga TV included ultra high-definition entertainment on large screen TVs, multi-party video conferencing from your living room, voice-activated virtual assistants, virtual reality gaming, digital shopping and immersive experiences.
The company claimed that the Jio Giga fiber will have speeds of up to 1Gbps. With the Jio GigaFiber offering, this would be the world's biggest greenfield fixed-line broadband service.
The registrations for the Jio GigaFiber will start from August 15 on the MyJio app and Jio.com. The company will prioritise the rollout of Jio GigaFiber across the country on the basis of the interest it has received from registrations.
