Media firm Viacom 18’s youth brand MTV on Monday said it has entered into sports broadcasting by acquiring the rights for the second season of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) tournament Super Fight League (SFL).
MTV has acquired the exclusive broadcast and digital rights for MTV Super Fight League 2018 across India, it said in a statement.
“Through MTV’s association with Super Fight League we aim to popularise the sport and make it accessible to a much larger audience than it currently enjoys. We see a lot of potential in the sport and hope for a long standing association with the league,” Viacom18 Chief Operating Officer Raj Nayak said.
Commenting on the same, SFL’s Chief Executive Officer and founder Bill Dosanjh said,”We have spent almost Rs 250 crores in the last five years and we are looking to invest a further Rs 200 crores over the next three years.”
