Apple’s iPad Air series has been one of the most sought after products with the company selling more than 200 million units of the 9.7-inch variant. Couple of years after the launch of iPad Air 2, the device’s third model has been much anticipated.

The Apple iPad Air 3 was expected to be released in September alongside the iPhone 7 series, according to ITPro. However, the Cupertino-based tech company instead launched the Pro versions of iPad in two different sizes – the 12.9-inch and the 9.7-inch variant.

A lot of costumers believed that the iPad Pro’s 9.7-inch model was the replacement for the iPad Air 3. News reports have suggested that there is a high possibility that Apple may bid adieu to the iPad series in favour of smaller tablets like the iPad Pro.

However, Apple has not commented on this yet.

According to PCAdvisor, the iPad Air 3 will be released sometime this year, the device's WiFi-only 32GB variant will cost $499.
