IT major Wipro's digital arm Wipro Digital on Wednesday said it will acquire Cooper, a design and business strategy consultancy company for USD 8.5 million(approx Rs 55.4 crore).
The acquisition of US-based Cooper, which will become a part of Designit, will further strengthen Wipro's design and innovation capabilities, it said in a statement.
The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of this fiscal, subject to customary closing conditions, it added. Wipro said the transaction will also expand the company's reach in North America and add capabilities in professional design education.
"Increasingly, global enterprise clients recognise that design is a critical part of any digital or business transformation. By adding Cooper?s skills and expertise, Wipro will be better positioned to support its clients? digital programs," it said.
Founded in 1992, Cooper is a US-based company with offices in San Francisco and New York. Cooper is privately held and has a workforce of 35 employees. Its revenues stood at USD 8.3 million in 2016.
"With Cooper, we will now be the pre-eminent firm for world-class UX (User Experience) and interaction design," Wipro Digital Global Head and Senior Vice President RajanKohli said.
This coupled with Designit's global strategic design services and Wipro's engineering capability, will allow the company to support the complete digital journey for clients,he added. Wipro Digital and Designit serve clients from 16 offices around the world.
