25 students to appear for Tulu language exam

A total of 25 students would appear for the Tulu language test in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate exams in Dakshina Kannada district this year, a release here said.

Last year, 17 students had appeared for the examination. The examinations would be held during March and April.

Of the 25 students, 10 are from Ramakunja English Medium School at Puttur, 11 from Pragathi English Medium School and four from a Kannada Medium School here.

All the students had chosen Tulu as their third language.

Government had issued orders for teaching Tulu as third language in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in the year 2010 to boost the study of the language.

Tulu is a language spoken by a section of people belonging to southern Karnataka and northern parts of Kerala.
