Jamia Millia Islamia has extended the deadline for applications for admission to its various undergraduate and postgraduate courses till April 25. The varsity has received 93,000 applications so far. Jamia had last year introduced a completely online application system and received a record 1.49 lakh applications for over 6000 seats.
“Numerous requests were received by Vice Chancellor Talat Ahmad from students and parents from across the country for extending the deadline as people in few areas got to know about the admission announcement for the upcoming academic session late,” Jamia spokesperson said.
“So, the deadline has now been extended till April 25,” he added. From the upcoming academic session, Jamia is also introducing nine new courses including - MA Politics, International and Area Studies, MA Arab-Islamic Culture, MTech Computer Engineering, MTech Electronics and Communication Engineering, MA Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy.
The other new courses include Certificate in Chinese Language (Part-time), Diploma in Chinese Language (Part-time) Intensive Diploma in Chinese Language and BA LLB (Hons) (self-financed).
Also, from this year there will be a common entrance test for admission to diploma courses (Regular an Self -Financed) of University Polytechnic, Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Besides, the new courses the BA with Computer Application (BACA) course has been merged with BA Programme and its total intake has been increased to 65.
