One person was killed and four others injured after two building blocks at a government colony in Gujarat's Ahmedabad collapsed owing to heavy rainfall in the last few days. While four people were rescued from the debris of the four-storey building blocks in Odhav locality, some are still feared trapped under the debris.
A number of families resided in the nearly 20-year-old building blocks, but the majority of them had vacated the premises on Saturday after the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) officials asked them to do so, looking at the poor condition of the structures.
Two National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the personnel of the city fire brigade were rushed to the spot for the rescue operations, sources said.
