Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah defended the abrupt transfer of a senior woman police official for allegedly putting a minister’s call on hold, saying it was an “administrative matter”.
“It is an administrative matter. One should not find fault with it. She has worked there for more than one year so she has been placed elsewhere,” Siddaramaiah told reporters here.
The Chief Minister’s reaction comes two days after a video footage showing Labour Minister P T Parameshwara Naik making a boastful claim for the shunting out of Deputy Superintendent of Police of Kudligi sub-division in Ballari district Anupama Shenai, had gone viral.
The claim by Naik, the district minister in charge, to party workers in Hadagali assembly constituency, embarrassed the government more as it came only a few days after the minister rejected any role in the transfer as “far from the truth.”
Home Minister and State Congress Chief G Parameshwara had earlier said that the DySP has not been transferred and she has been sent on OOD (On Official Duty).
Meanwhile, local TV channels have claimed two more incidents of the minister’s alleged interference in the duty of a PSI (Police Sub Inspector) and a RFO (Range Forest Officer).
