Bhopal Under Complete Lockdown As Number Of COVID-19 Patients Reaches 200 In Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh government has decided to impose stricter lockdown in Bhopal as the number of coronavirus positive cases continues to increase in the state. According to reports, the decision to impose a complete lockdown in the state capital was taken two bureaucrats and a health officer were found positives for COVID-19. The administration has decided to shut all shops except milk booths and medicine stores. All the ‘mandis’ have been ordered to remain closed. However, goods and other essential services will be available at the doorstep every day.

An order this regard was issued by Additional District Magistrate Satish Kumar S. The revised order of a complete lockdown came into force from April 5 midnight.  Media personnel have been exempted from the restrictions. Also, vehicles of all private and government officials engaged in essential services will be exempted from this ban.

Meanwhile, a 52-year-old man died of coronavirus in Bhopal, taking the toll in Madhya Pradesh to 14, an official said on Monday. This is the first death of a COVID-19 patient in the state capital, he said. The number of coronavirus patients in the state has gone up to 200.

The man recently tested positive for coronavirus and died at a private hospital where he was undergoing treatment on Sunday night, Bhopal Collector Tarun Pithode said.

He worked as a watchman at a wholesale vegetable market and was suffering from asthma since long, Dr. Rajesh Sharma from the private hospital said.

So far, 14 people have succumbed to the viral disease in the state, including nine in Indore, two in Ujjain and one each in Bhopal, Khargone, and Chhindwara, an official said.
