As many as 12 people were killed, 1 injured in head-on collision between 2 cars near Ramgarh in Ujjain late on Monday night. The accident took place in the Bhairavgarh police station limits and the dead included men, women and three children, of which five were of the same family. A Maruti Omni van and a Tata Hexa were involved in the accident that took place around 12 am. The family in the Tata Hexa was returning after attending a wedding at Birlagram in Nagda. Their car collided with another vehicle with such a great impact that the van fell 50 feet away.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arjun Kayat, his wife Rajubai, son Shubham and two daughters Raveena and Bulbul were among the dead. The victims were residents of Ujjain's Tilkeshwar Nagar and Nagarkot area.

In a similar incident in September 2018, three persons, including a woman and a boy, were killed and five critically injured when a speeding SUV collided head-on with a car and a motorcycle near Nagda town of Ujjain district.
