Bhopal:

A village in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri got a transformer installed after a video of a farmer crying in front of newly appointed Collector Anugrah P went viral on the social media. The video shows the farmer falling to the feet of the Collector as soon as she came out of her office. The farmer, identified as Ajit Jatav, was requesting for her intervention for getting a new transformer installed in his village.

The video, shot on December 28, shows Jatav holding a clump of his destroyed crop and weeping in front of the Collector. The farmer claimed that he had not been able to get the transformer's connection despite depositing a fee for it five-six month ago. "Behen-ji meri sun jao (please listen to me), the farmer can be heard saying.

According to the farmer, a resident of Shivpuri's Ranaud village, he had deposited a fee of Rs 40,000 in advance to the local electricity department to ensure the installation of the transformer as his village was facing acute shortage of power supply. Soon after the video went viral, the administration has installed a transformer in his village.

"Farmer requested Collector for transformer connection on December 28. She ordered me to attend his request and take action. The scheme under which he requested for connection assures resolution within 6 months, but his problem was resolved in 3 months, on December 30," AK Chauhan, Upper Collector was quoted as saying by ANI.
