The maximum temperature continued to hover slightly above normal levels in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday.
Chandigarh, joint capital of both the states, recorded a high of 33.5 degrees Celsius, a MeT official said.

In Haryana--Ambala, Hisar and Bhiwani recorded above normal temperatures at 34.7 degrees, 37 degrees and 35.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum of 35.6 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded a high of 35.2 degrees and 35.1 degrees Celsius, respectively, the official said.
The MeT has forecast rain or thundershowers in the northern states over the next two days.
