Actor Siddharth of ‘Rang De Basanti’ fame was booked for participating in anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests in Chennai on Friday. According to latest reports, the actor was named in the FIR along with 600 other protesters. Apart from Siddharth, musician TM Krishna, MP Thirumavalavan and MH Jawahirullah were also booked for protests at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai. Siddharth has been very vocal about his opposition against the citizenship law. On Thursday when the nation witnessed massive protests across major cities, Siddharth had tweeted a famous dialogue from the iconic 2006 movie – “Ab bhi jo na khaula woh khoon nahi hai paani hai... Jo desh ke kaam na aaye woh bekaar jawaani hai. Revolution is the life blood of democracy. Bleed for #India. #CAA #NRC #PeacefulProtest.” Interestingly, Siddharth had played the role of Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in the movie.

On Thursday, Superstar Rajinikanth on Thursday expressed concern over violence in various parts of the country over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, saying violence and rioting cannot be a way to find solution to any issue. Though the actor did specify any incident, he said "the ongoing violence gives me great pain." "Violence and rioting should not become a way to find solution for any issue. I request the people of India to stay united and vigilant keeping in mind the nation's security and welfare, " he said in a tweet. "The ongoing violence gives me great pain," he added.

However, actor-politician Kamal Haasan has come out in support of the CAA protesters. "I applaud with glee at the stupidity of the government for stoking the fire of Satyagraha by arresting the thinking and questioning minds of India like Ramachandra Guha and Yogendra Yadav. Yet I am concerned for their safety. India stands with you," he tweeted on a day when spontaneous protests against the controversial law erupted in several parts of the country.
