Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday will meet DMK chief M Karunanidhi, who was admitted to Kauvery hospital following a urinary tract information on Saturday.
"Congress President Rahul Gandhi to travel to Chennai today to meet DMK chief M Karunanidhi who is admitted to Kauvery Hospital," the news agency ANI reported.
According to a source close to Tamil Nadu Congress, Gandhi will land in Chennai by 3.30 pm and proceed to the hospital straight away.
Ever since the report of Karunanidhi's bad health emerged on the internet, scores of anxious DMK workers started gathering outside the hospital. Over 300 police personnel have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident in the hospital premises. A separate enclave has also been created for media personnel.
Earlier on Monday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami visited the hospital and enquired about the well-being of the DMK leader. Following his visit to the hospital, Palaniswami assured that Karunanidhi is stable now and recovering well with active medical support.

Apart from Palaniswami, several high-profile ministers along with Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, DMK working president MK Stalin also paid a visit to Karunanidhi in the hospital.
On July 29, a medical bulletin issued by the hospital said "there was a transient setback in the clinical condition of Karunanidhi. With active medical support, his vital signs are normalising. He continues to be closely monitored and treated by the panel of expert doctors."
Post that, the hospital has not published any fresh bulletin so far.
Karunanidhi, the nonagenarian leader was admitted to the hospital in the early hours of Saturday after his blood pressure dropped. On July 18, he underwent a surgery at the same hospital for replacement of a tracheostomy tube to help him breathe normally.
