As the Independence Day 2018 is just one day away, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Monday said that Metro services will run as per the regular schedule on August 15. "Metro Train services will run as usual across the entire Delhi Metro Network on Independence Day i.e, 15th August," the DMRC said in a press release.

However,  the entry and exit at four stations of Line-6 (Kashmere Gate to Escorts Mujesar) i.e, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate and ITO will be permitted from some selected gates during the Independence Day celebrations. Several gates will remain closed at those stations owing to security considerations all over the day.

"In order to facilitate people at Lal Quila station on Independence Day, additional ticket counters will be opened at Lal Quila and Jama Masjid Metro stations along with deployment of additional staff for guiding the additional rush after the ceremony,' it added.

Earlier on Monday, the Metro Rail Corporation, in another statement, announced that the parking lots at all the metro stations will remain closed till 2 pm on August 15 starting from 6 am on August 14 amid tight security across the national capital region.

Train services between Indraprastha and Mandi House will remain suspended for a certain period when the Prime Minister’s convoy will pass through Tilak Marg on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, in a patriotic movement, Union Minister of State for External Affairs General V K Singh flagged-off a special train to pay tribute to freedom fighters and martyrs. The train is wrapped with the photographs of freedom fighters and other Indian icons and will highlight their struggle for making Independence a reality.

The train, carrying pictures of Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, B R Ambedkar, Lata Mangeshkar, former president APJ Abdul Kalam, shahnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan, cricket icon Kapil Dev, will run between Samaypur Badli and HUDA City Centre on the Yellow Line for the next two months, sources said.

In the event of any untoward incident, commuters can dial the new Metro helpline number launched on August 10. The Central Industrial Security Force on Friday launched a new electronic surveillance control room and security helpline number -- 155655 -- for Delhi Metro commuters.
