AAP rebel MLA Kapil Mishra disqualified under anti-defection law: Reports

Delhi Assembly speaker Ram Niwas Goel has disqualified rebel AAP MLA Kapil Mishra under the anti-defection law, sources said on Friday. They said that Mishra has been disqualified under the 10th Schedule to the Constitution, which is commonly referred to as the 'Anti-Defection Law'.

An order to disqualify the Karawal Nagar MLA has been issued by the speaker, they said.

Reacting to the disqualification, Kapil Mishra said that for PM Modi, he can sacrifice MLA chair multiple times.  He further added that he stands with he people of Delhi. "There is Tukde Tukde gang on one hand and nationalist on the other," he said.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during an address to a gathering indicated that Durgesh Pathak, AAP’s youngest Political Affairs Committee member, will contest the upcoming Assembly polls from Karawal Nagar, replacing Kapil Mishra.

“Aur mai samajhta hu ki, peechli baar Kapil Mishra ke vajay se jo kami reh gayi, wo ab ye Durgesh saari kami aapki poori karenge,” Kejriwal said, addressing a gathering of people from unauthorised colonies in Karawal Nagar at his residence.

The process to regularise 1,797 unauthorised colonies in the city has gathered steam with the Centre drafting a Cabinet note, to which the AAP government has responded with suggestions.
