Air Pollution: Delhi Metro to run extra trains from Thursday

Air pollution in the national capital region has reached the alarming level and to counter it Delhi Metro has decided to run extra trains from Thursday across its network.

A dense blanket of smog covered Delhi, NCR affecting vehicular movement on the roads as pollution levels breached permissible standards by multiple times.

In view of severe air pollution, people at a park in Delhi's Dwarka were seen wearing masks on Wednesday morning.

Earlier, thick smog hampered visibility at the Delhi airport on Tuesday that disrupted operations and delayed over 300 flights by up to two hours.

The air quality of Delhi was at the season’s worst on Tuesday due to a combined effect of smoke from stubble burning and moisture. Visibility levels plunged as a thick blanket of haze hung low over the city.

Schools, up till class V, will shut down as per the directions by the Delhi government. It has also stopped all outdoor school activity in schools after the Indian Medical Association (IMA) asked called for steps to keep children out of the "hazardous" air pollution levels.
