New Delhi:

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday welcome the Modi government’s decision to regularise unauthorised colonies in the national capital and said that the AAP government had submitted the road map in this regard on July 24. "We submitted a proposal to the Centre on July 24 on the regularization of unauthorised colonies. The Centre today accepted our proposal,” Kejriwal said while addressing the media.

He also asked the Centre should start the process immediately. Kejriwal said the Centre has taken an important decision on the long-pending demand of Delhiites.

Kejriwal said that three posh colonies that have been left out could also have been regularised.

"We had given 12 suggestions in the proposal to the Centre, however, we are yet to receive the final document to know how many have been accepted. The Centre didn’t agree to include the posh colonies of Delhi," he added.

Kejriwal said the Delhi government had suggested that colonies on the land of the Archaeological Survey of India should be exempted.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to grant ownership rights to people living in unauthorised colonies in Delhi, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said. The move will benefit 40 lakh people.

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the Centre would also bring a bill in the Winter Session of Parliament to give relief to the residents of the unauthorised colonies in the national capital.
