New Delhi:

In yet another chilling detail emerging in the heart-wrenching Indirapuram murder-suicide case, latest media reports say that the businessman had made a video call to a friend and showed him the dead bodies of his children. Reports revealed that around 3 am, garment trader Gulshan Vasudeva had sent 'Jai Mata Di' text to a friend Ramesh Arora.  Resident of Jhilmil Colony in east Delhi, Arora sensed trouble for the timing of the message. He tried to talk to him but Vasudeva didn't respond. At 3:38 am, Vasudeva called Arora and showed him the dead bodies of his son and daughter. He told Arora that he had killed his children and was about to end his life. Vasudeva also told Arora that he had distributed blankets, sweets and food to security guards of the housing society.

Seconds after Vasudeva disconnected the video call, Arora tried to call him again but by that time Vasudev's phone was switched off. The 70-year-old raised an alarm and called other people to enquire about Vasudeva and his family. An HT report said that Vasudeva had also told his childhood friend that he was feeling 'helpless'. Around 18 months ago, Vasudeva had called his friend Praveen Bakshi and had said how he might kill his family and himself, the HT report said.

"Sanjana (the business partner) survived the jump from the 8th floor. She told us they had killed themselves on their own. She later succumbed to injuries. Vasudeva left a bounced cheque on the wall where the suicide note was written. This was given to him by his brother-in-law Rakesh Verma," Sudhir Kumar Singh, senior superintendent of police, was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested Vasudeva's brother-in-law for abetting the suicide. "Rakesh Verma, the brother in law of Vasudeva, has been arrested for abetting suicide, while his mother Phoola Verma is also accused in the case is on the run," Senior Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad, Sudhir Kumar Singh told PTI. Vasudeva (45), his wife Praveen and manager Sanjana jumped to their death in the early hours of Tuesday from the eighth floor of their apartment block in Krishna Apra society in Indirapuram. Vasudeva had killed his son Hrithik (14), daughter Hrithika (18) by slitting their throats on at around 3.30 am on Tuesday and also killed their pet rabbit, the police said.
