Lalit Bhatia, the alleged brain behind the mass suicides in Delhi’s Burari has come under the Delhi Crime Branch team’s scanner once again as the new details state that he used to visit cremation grounds and isolated place frequently in the city to learn about ghosts and souls, especially following the death of his father 10 years ago.

The latest information has surfaced from one of the many registers recovered from the Bhatia residence.

Delhi police have already identified the handwriting in the register and that was of Priyanka, one of the 11 members of the family who were found dead on Sunday.

Priyanka even liked a Facebook page that is based on supernatural activities and ghosts, a crime branch official told a leading media house.

The police are investigating every small clue related to the ‘mass suicide’ and since Lalit is at the centre of the incident, the police is stating that he may have driven the entire family to commit suicide.

A crime branch team even questioned the family of Tina, Lalit’s wife in Udaipur.

"We want to know any facts that Tina could have shared about Lalit or the activities of the house with her family members. It will help us analyse the behaviour and mindset of Lalit and other members,," said a senior official, requesting anonymity.

The team has taken the recorded statements of 13 persons who stayed with the Bhatiya family for 10 days for the engagement ceremony of Priyanka.

"Those relatives can reveal what they felt while staying with the Bhatias, especially with Lalit, for 10 days. They could have noticed some alarming trend in the house or at least the daily routine of the family members," the official said.

Crime branch team, in a CCTV footage of June 27 found Lalit holding a bag in his hands that seem to have contained some clothes and a doctor’s tape.

Since then the police have claimed that these items were used to tie the hand and mouths of the 11 members before the hangings.
