CBI raids at Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain's residence; what does PM Modi wants, asks Kejriwal

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday conducted raids at residence of Delhi Health and Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satyendar Jain. The raids were carried out by the CBI sleuths in connection with the hiring of a creative team for various projects.

The national probe agency, whose credibility came under scanner after it failed to prove 2G scam in the court, has also registered a new case against Jain for the alleged violation of rules in the hiring of architects for the PWD projects.

“CBI raids my house for hiring creative team by PWD. Professionals were hired for different projects. All were forced to leave by CBI,” the PWD minister tweeted.

Reacting to the raids at his cabinet minister’s house, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioned the surprise move by the CBI and asked “What does PM Modi want?”

The fresh searches at Jain’s residence came a day after the CBI closed its case against the minister in connection with his daughter Soumya Jain’s appointment to a state government project.

The agency closed its probe after it failed to find any evidence of violations into Soumya’s appointment.

The raids also came just a day after the minister announced that hospitals would have to waive 50 per cent of the bill if a patient dies within six hours of his arrival in the hospital.

The Delhi health minister also announced that a draft policy had been put in public domain to seek suggestions on a new policy that will bar hospitals from “holding hostage” the bodies of patients over non-payment of bills.
