New Delhi:

Protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) turned violent after clashes broke out between two groups in northeast Delhi's Maujpur and Jafrabad. According to reports, section 144 has been imposed in several districts of the national capital and internet speed has been slowed down. Some reports also suggest that a head-constable succumbed to injuries he received during clashes. At least 10 cops reportedly got injured and were taken to hospital for first aid.

Instructed Delhi Police and Commissioner of Police to ensure that law and order is maintained in North East Delhi. The situation is being closely monitored. I urge everyone to exercise restraint for the maintenance of peace and harmony: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.



One Delhi Police head constable has lost his life and one DCP injured during clashes between two groups in Delhi's Gokulpuri.



According to officials, a fire tender was damaged by protesters after it responded to a fire call in the area.

The Delhi Metro also closed entry and exit at Jaffrabad and Maujpur-Babarpur stations as an uneasy calm prevailed in the area.

Police fired tear gas shells and also resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the protesters. 

Section 144 CrPC imposed at ten locations in North-east district of Delhi.

A clash broke out between two groups in Maujpur area, today. Ved Prakash Surya DCP (North-East) says, "We have spoken to both sides, now the situation is calm. We are continuously speaking to people, now the situation is under control".
