In another shocking incident, a class 9 student was found unconscious in the washroom in northeast Delhi's Karawal Nagar died after he was taken to a government hospital on Thursday, police said.

Confirming the incident, Dr AK Singla, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Northeast, said, “We received a PCR call from the GTB Hospital around 4.30 pm about the death of a child. The call was made by the school authorities in the presence of the child’s mother.”

According to the police, the incident took place at the Jeevan Jyoti School located in Sadatpur. The authorities were informed around 11 am on Thursday when one of the students saw 14-year-old Tushar lying unconscious in the washroom.

The school immediately rushed the student to a private hospital and later to the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The family of Tushar has claimed that he was murdered by fellow students and held the school responsible for the incident. They, along with local MLA Kapil Mishra also staged a protest outside the school.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police said that they have sent the body for post-mortem. “Once the reports are out, we will take legal action accordingly.”
