Coronavirus | Over 150 FIRs Registered, 3,195 Detained For Violating Lockdown Norms In Delhi

Delhi Police said that over 900 passes have been issued for the movement in the city.

Delhi Police detained 3,195 people and registered FIR against over 150 for violating lockdown norms in the national capital on Friday. According to cops, they registered 156 FIRs under Section 188 (for disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the IPC till 5 pm.

A total of 3,195 people have been detained under Section 65 (persons bound to comply with reasonable directions of police officers) and 365 vehicles have been impounded under Section 66 of the Delhi Police Act, the data added.

Delhi Police said that over 900 passes have been issued for the movement in the city. The passes were issued after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has launched a dedicated WhatsApp helpline number - 8800007722 - for people to enquire about coronavirus, food banks, shelters among others. The helpline will act as central source information that will provide accurate and trustworthy updates on COVID-19. To use this free helpline number on WhatsApp, one needs to save the number on his smartphone and then simply send a message ‘Hi’ to get started.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also announced that the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Delhi has risen to 384, including 259 who were evacuated from Nizamuddin Markaz.
