The Delhi Police on Monday announced that people will require curfew passes to travel between Delhi and its neighbouring areas from Tuesday. The government, however, said that those working for essential services will be allowed to travel in their private vehicles. “For the movement of persons involved in the essential goods and services, the concerned Delhi-based organisations have to get the curfew passes from their respective district police headquarters”, Delhi Police’s communique said.

The passes can be collected from the DCP offices in respective areas and these can be used for entry through the border posts.
Earlier, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had said that 25 per cent of the state-run buses would be on roads to assist those working for essential services. However, the figure has been increased to 50 per cent.
Earlier, in an online media briefing, Kejriwal said the lockdown is for everyone’s benefit and it is important to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic. He also urged Delhiites to adhere to the norms of the lockdown in the national capital which has been imposed to curb the novel coronavirus. The chief minister added that the restriction on public movement was likely to be tightened-up from Tuesday.
The Delhi chief minister also cited the examples of Italy and the US where the number of coronavirus were in hundreds initially but have increased exponentially.
Kejriwal said on the first day of the lockdown several people involved in providing essential services reached late to work and faced hassles. “To ensure that they don’t face problem, we will increase the DTC bus services to 50 per cent from Tuesday,” he added.
