Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram are expected to be among the 75 districts about to be placed under lockdown bu the centre and state government. India was under voluntary lockdown on Sunday as part of the Janata Curfew proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now, the governments have decided to extend the lockdown in districts across the country where cases of novel coronavirus have been reported.
The decision was made at a high level meeting attended by the Cabinet Secretary, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and chief secretaries of all States. According to PTI, state governments will be issued orders allowing only essential services to operate in about 75 districts with confirmed Covid-19 cases or casualties. India has reported 341 positive cases of coronavirus so far. With government planning the lockdown in affected districts, it is expected to affect several cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Noida, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Patna, Jabalpur, Kolkata etc.
The government has also decided to suspend inter-state bus services till March 31, they said. Earlier, Indian Railways decided to cancel all passenger trains till March 31. Meanwhile, several state decided to extend the lockdown on their own. Maharashtra has extended the 'Janata Curfew' till tomorrow morning. It will also imposed section 144 from midnight. Other states including Jharkhand, Uttarakhand etc have also decided to continue the Janata Curfew in till March 31. (With PTI Inputs)
