Coronavirus: All Metro Services Including Delhi, Noida To Remain Closed Till March 31

Delhi, Noida and other metro services were closed on Sunday as part of the 'Janata Curfew'.

All the metro services will remain suspended till March 31 due to the coronavirus outbreak in India. Earlier, all metro services in the country including Delhi, Noida, Kolkata, Mumbai and Bengaluru were closed on Sunday as part of the Janata Curfew. The government has now decided to extend the suspension to help reduce the spread of Covid-19.

"Thanks for closing down metro services today ie 22nd March, 2020 on the day of Janta Curfew. This will help in breaking the chain of further infection of COVID-19. Now in view of current global pandemic of this Corona Virus, for containing its further spread through inter-personal proximity, it has been decided to close down metro rail services on all operational networks across the country till 31st March, 2020," the government said in a message sent to the Managing Directors of all operational metro services.

Indian Railways announced suspension of all passenger operations till March 31. Only goods trains will run from March 22 midnight till March 31 midnight. A bare minimum level of service of suburban services of suburban trains and Kolkata Metro rail to continue up to midnight tonight.

"All passenger train services on Indian Railways including premium train services, mail/express trains, passenger trains, suburban trains, Kolkata Metro, Konkan Raiways, etc, will be cancelled till March 31," the Railways said in a statement.

The local train services in Mumbai will also remain suspended from March 22 midnight to March 31 midnight.
