A Delhi court on Friday directed AIIMS hospital authorities to provide boarding and lodging facilities to the family members of the Unnao rape survivor, who is admitted to the facility and is in critical condition.
District Judge Dharmesh Sharma directed the governing body of Vishram Sadan at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences to provide at least two rooms and three meals a day to the family members of the survivor.
The court said the expenses of the facilities shall be incurred or reimbursed by the CBI, which is investigating the accident case that took place on July 28 in Rae Bareli in which the rape victim and her lawyer were critically injured, while her two aunts died.
“It is made clear that this order be complied with strictly, failing which the members of the governing body, or manager shall face contempt of the proceedings of this court,” the court said.
The order comes after the counsels for the survivor, advocates Dharmendra Mishra and Poonam Kaushik, told the court that only one room has been provided to the family members in which seven members, including children, have to be accommodated.
The court was further informed that though the additional medical superintendent had directed the manager of Vishram Sadan to facilitate boarding and lodging for them, the mother and other relatives have been instructed to immediately vacate the hospital accommodation due to security measures on the eve of the Independence Day.
Earlier in the day, the court framed charges against expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and his accomplice Shashi Singh for allegedly kidnapping and raping the woman when she was a minor in Unnao on June 4, 2017.
Sengar and nine others were earlier booked by the CBI in the accident case.
