Self-styled godman Daati Maharaj, accused of rape and sexual assault, moved the Supreme Court on Tuesday after the Delhi High Court decided to trasfer his case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Daati faces charges of 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex) and 354 (molestation) based on the complaint of a 25-year-old woman. The woman had told the police that she was sexually assaulted by self-styled godman athisHauzKhas ashram.
The Delhi Police had registered a case in June at Fatehpur beri police station after whcih the case was transferred to Crime Branch.

“The victim in her complaint had told the police that when she was at the ashram in Delhi and Rajasthan, she was raped and molested by Dati Maharaj on several occasions not just in Delhi but in Rajasthan as well,” said a senior police officer.
The victim also mentioned the name of two other disciples who also assaulted her. In her complaint, the victim has also named a female disciple who would ask the girl to go to the Dati’s room. The female disciple would tell the victim that she was not the only one but other women also go to his room and seek blessings.
