Two girls were taken ill after having mid-day meal at a Delhi government school in East of Kailash in which a dead lizard was allegedly found, prompting Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to order the termination of the food supplier’s contract.
Sisodia, who visited the Rajkiya Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, said the students were admitted to a hospital and were stated to be stable.
A case has been registered at Kalyan Puri police station after a complaint was received from the school principal, a police official said.
Sisodia, also the education minister of Delhi, said it was a “major negligence” and such incidents cannot be tolerated.
He said the contract of the food supplier has been cancelled. The contractor was responsible for supplying mid-day meal to 61 government schools in Delhi.
Another supplier has been asked to provide mid-day meal to all government schools till a new arrangement is made, he added.
