Delhi: 25-Year-Old Man From Odisha Attempts Self-Immolation Near India Gate

A man from Odisha attempted self-immolation near India Gate on Wednesday evening. He has been admitted to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia hospital for medical treatment. According to initial reports, 25-year-old Kartik Mahar set himself on fire near Rajpath at around 6.30 pm on Wednesday. He was taken to RML hospital for treatment. The self-immolation incident took place when there were protests going on against the Citizenship Act near India Gate. However, police said that the attempt was not related to these protests. According to Delhi Police, the man is mentally unstable.
