Delhi: 36 cows found mysteriously dead at Dwarka cowshed

New Delhi:

Amid the BJP-led NDA government’s aggressive approach towards the protection of cows, thirty-six cows were found dead at a cowshed in the Chhawla area of Delhi’s Dwarka, police said on Friday.

According to the Delhi police, prima facie it was suspected that the cows died due to “some disease”. The cowshed where the incident happened, had 14,00 cows. A team of doctors rushed to the spot and the exact cause of the deaths will only be known after the post-mortem.

“A team of six veterinary doctors reached the gaushala and are conducting an enquiry into the cause of death and they will also conduct a postmortem of all the dead cows. Once their report is submitted further legal action will be taken,” PTI quoted a police official as saying.

Meanwhile, taking a serious view of the incident, the Delhi government ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident. A report will be submitted within 24 hours.

The order issued by Development Minister Gopal Rai's Secretary Sanjeev Mittal read, "I am directed to request that an enquiry report in this regard. May kindly be submitted within 24 hours positively."

The gaushala is run by the Acharya Sushil Gosadan Trust. It is spread over 20 acres of land which was allotted in 1995. Around 20 labourers are working there, a senior police officer said, according to PTI.
