Terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed is trying to target Delhi with a big terror incident in the national capital during the festive season. According to intelligence inputs, more than 400 sensitive buildings and markets in Delhi are on JeM's target list. Security has been beefed up in the national capital after getting the intelligence input. Delhi has been put on alert ahead of Diwali and other festivals. According to a highly placed source in Delhi police, Eight of fifteen districts in Delhi are considered sensitive. These are Rohini, North-East, North-West, North, East, Central, New Delhi, and Dwarka. About 425 places including building, landmarks and markets have been identified in these districts as sensitive areas.

According to inputs, the terrorists may target these areas using IED or grenade attacks. They may also open fire in sensitive places.

New Delhi houses important landmarks and buildings such as Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament, PMO, Sena Bhavan and busy markets such as Khan Market and Connaught Place. Jama Masjid, Delhi Police HQ, Rouse Avenue Court and Chandni Chowk are highly sensitive areas in Central district.

Laxmi Nagar, Anand Vihar ISBT in East Delhi district, Dwarka court in Dwarka district, Delhi Vidhan Sabha, LG and CM houses in North and Pitampura TV Tower in Rohini district and Azadpur market in North-West Delhi are some of the other important places.

These 425 places are being closely monitored and guarded round the clock. Delhi police have also asked people to be alert and inform the authorities in case of noticing anything suspicious.

About 200 police stations in Delhi have also been put on alert after getting intelligence inputs about possible terror attacks. These inputs indicate that Delhi police stations and police colonies may be targeted via suicide or direct attacks by terrorists.

Delhi Police has issued an advisory for the stations. All police personnel have been asked to stay alert while every entry and exit is being closely monitored and security at the gates have been beefed up. Vehicles are not being allowed inside without proper identification.

Earlier this month, Delhi Police has earlier sounded an alert after central intelligence agencies sent information that terrorists had reached the city to carry out terror strikes during the festival season.
