The much-awaited Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 stretch of Delhi Metro’s Pink Line extension will be operational from 4 pm today.

Dubbed as new year gift to Delhiites, the much-awaited Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 stretch of Delhi Metro’s Pink Line extension was flagged off by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Union Minister Hardeep Puri. Passenger services for this section will start from 4 pm today. The new segment of the 59-km-long Pink Line, which spans from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar, is part of the Phase-III of the DMRC network and an extension of the Pink Line. The 9.7-km Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 corridor has already been inspected for safety, according to officials. The stations on the corridor include Lajpat Nagar, Vinobapuri, Ashram, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Mayur Vihar Phase-I and Mayur Vihar Pocket-1.

"Mark your calendars! Pink Line extension from Lajpat Nagar to Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 will begin operations from 4 pm on December 31, 2018. The section will connect Lajpat Nagar and Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 through Vinoba Puri, Ashram, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Mayur Vihar 1. #DelhiMetro," the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had tweeted earlier.

Meanwhile, the Noida-Greater Noida Aqua line has also got the approval to begin the commercial operations after Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) received a final and mandatory safety inspection report. Following the approval, the NMRC has written to the Uttar Pradesh government to finalise the date of inauguration. The much-awaited Aqua Line that would run between Sector 71 station in Noida and the Depot Station in Greater Noida, covering 29.7 km through 21 stations.

Also, the trial on the extended Delhi Metro Blue Line has begun and very soon the new extended line connecting Noida City Centre to Noida Electronic City corridor will be operational. The entire extended Blue Line corridor will be elevated and will add six more stations - Sector 34, Sector 52, Sector 61, Sector 59, Sector 62 and Electronic City. "Initial test runs began today (Friday) on the 6.8 km-long Noida City Centre – Noida Electronic City. These trials are just preliminary and signalling trials will begin soon," a senior official had said.

The Noida City Centre-Noida Electronic City corridor is an extension of the currently operational Blue Line between Dwarka Sector 21 and Noida City Centre (Line 3) of the Delhi Metro. When completed, the Delhi Metro will have one of the world's most robust network connecting most parts of the national capital and its region.
