Delhi-NCR woke up to a rainy windy morning with a heavy overcast sky. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty winds at isolated places in the national capital. The fresh snowfall in Kashmir is expected to bring cold winds to the city. Officials said that strong surface winds, with speeds of 25 to 35 kmph, are also expected in Delhi. The temperature is expected to hover between 7 degrees and 22 degrees. The air quality is expected to remain in the ‘poor’ category.

The Met department said the weather conditions have arose due to a prevailing western disturbance over the entire northwest India. Thus, moderate to heavy rain and snow might lash many places of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh might see heavy rains with hailstorm, while Delhi-NCR would witness scattered spells.

On Wednesday too, Delhi woke up to light rains followed by a sunny spell during the day. The maximum temperature was around 25.1 degrees Celsius whereas the minimum temperature was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius. Air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category for the second day in a row, with the air quality index value being recorded at 352.
