Despite the rain, the temperature in Delhi remained two notches above the season's average at 36 degrees Celcius maximum, according to the Meteorological department.

The minimum temperature on Saturday settled at 28.2 degrees, a notch above the normal, said a MeT department official.

While some parts of Delhi was sunny, some received light drizzle and rain and the humidity oscillated between 72 and 56 per cent.

For Sunday, the MeT official forecast cloudy skies and cooler day.

"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 34 and 28 degrees Celsius respectively," the weatherman said.

On Friday, the minimum and maximum temperatures were 28.2 and 35.8 degrees Celsius respectively.

Meanwhile, owing to the rain-washed weather, the air quality in Delhi was reported cleaner on Saturday.

In Punjab and Haryana, the maximum temperatures hovered slightly above normal levels on Saturday, according to the MeT.

Chandigarh recorded light rainfall and maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius, the meteorological department stated.

Punjab recorded warmer weather as the mercury settled at a high of 36.6 degrees Celsius in Amritsar. Ludhiana and Patiala also recorded maximum temperatures of 34.7 and 35.1 degrees Celsius respectively.

Haryana, Ambala, Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul recorded maximum temperatures of 34.9, 37.6, 33.4 and 34.5 degrees Celsius respectively.

A few places in Haryana and Punjab are likely to receive rainfall over the next two days, according to the Met department.
