The Traffic Police in its advisory said, the public is advised to follow the directions of Honorable court and not ply their diesel motor vehicles of 15 years or more de registered by transport department.

Delhi Traffic Police to start impounding of 15 years old diesel vehicles

Delhi Traffic Police on Friday released an advisory saying that it shall be prosecuting and impounding 15-years-old de-registrered diesal motor vehicles running on delhi roads.

After the orders of National Green Tribunal (NGT) that allowed 10 years-old diesel vehicles to ply in Delhi, the transport of department of GNCT Delhi has provided a list of 1.9 lakhs such diesel vehicles to the traffic police which are more than 15 years old and have been de-registered by them as per directions issued by NGT in their orders.

The Traffic Police in its advisory said, "the public is advised to follow the directions of Hon'ble court and not ply their diesel motor vehicles of 15 years or more de registered by transport department."

De-registered vehicles found plying on road will be towed away by cranes and action will be taken under section 122/177motor vehicles act, 1998 along with towing charges.
