Delhi woke up to foggy morning on Saturday as the national capital’s air quality improved to the ‘moderate category’. The temperature in city also dipped to 14 degrees Celsius.

The humidity was recorded at 95 per cent at 8.30 am, said a meteorological (Met) department official. The Met office has forecast clear skies during the day. As the cold waves intensified, people living on the streets took refuge in the night shelters.

Several areas of the national capital including airport area witness moderate AQI, aqicn.org shows. Some parts of Delhi received light shower with strong wind providing relief from the toxic smog on Friday.

"Clear sky with strong surface winds during the day and cold wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated pockets," the official said. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Monday are likely to settle around between 12 to 15 degrees Celsius respectively,” the official added.

Meanwhile, some stricter measures have been taken by the authorities to fight air pollution in Delhi and its neighbourhood as part of the Graded Response Action Plan, which was first implemented in Delhi-NCR in 2017.
