Moderate showers lashed the capital in the early hours of Monday, bringing down the mercury by several notches. Showers of varying intensity are likely to continue till September 26. The maximum temperature is expected to settle at 29 degree Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department.

The minimum temperature is predicted to be around 24 degree Celsius and humidity will be around 90 per cent. This was also only the second time in the year when Delhi’s air quality touched ‘good’ according to Central Pollution Control Board’s air quality index, officials said. “Delhi is seeing a good spell in terms of air quality and with more rain forecast, it should stay in this range,” a CPCB official said.

A surplus of rain has been recorded in Delhi, of 224.5 mm, of over 105 per cent. It is said to be the highest since 2011, when 225.2 mm of rain was recorded.
