Delhi on Wednesday woke up to a bright and sunny morning. The maximum temperature is expected to settle at 35 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The minimum temperature is expected to hover around 23 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity will oscillate between 39 per cent to 88 per cent.

Days are likely to stay warm for next 10 to 15 days following which, the day temperatures will start to decline. Dry winds from North-west direction have reduced the humidity and the sky condition is also clear. Delhiites, can expect further rise in day temperatures by a couple of degrees in coming days, according to the weatherman at the Skymet weather.

National capital bid adieu to Monsoon after receiving 19 per cent excess rainfall this year. The last time monsoon withdrew this early from the city was in 2015, retreating on September 30 that year.

“Monsoon withdrew from Delhi on October 1. The last rain was received on September 24. We are now in the transition phase before winter sets in,” said BP Yadav, deputy director general of the IMD.

Monsoon had hit Delhi a day ahead of its scheduled date of arrival this year. While the scheduled date of arrival for monsoon in Delhi is June 29, this year it arrived on June 28.

On Tuesday, the minimum temperature settled at 22.5 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature was recorded at 35.8 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity oscillated between 57 per cent to 82 per cent.
