Entry at Model Town metro station was closed briefly after a car caught fire near the entrance gate, officials said. The metro station is one of the busiest stations on Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro.

"Entry to Model Town metro station will be closed temporarily due to smoke from a car which has caught fire outside. We regret the inconvenience," The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a tweet.

According to reports, the Delhi Fire Service received a call about the incident at 7.48 pm on Saturday and dispatched a fire tender to the spot. The fire was brought under control and no casualty was reported, he added.

A DMRC official said that the exact reason behind the fire is not known yet and it could not be immediately confirmed if the car was moving or stationary.

"Entry to Model Town metro station was later opened," the DMRC official said. The Yellow Line connects Samaypur Badli to Huda City Centre in Gurgaon.
